First Week Survival Tour
What
Is This Program About?
This
program assists newcomers during their first weeks in Toronto, helping them
navigate essential tasks such as buying a new phone, opening a bank account,
and getting supplies for their new home.
Our
volunteers, who have lived in Toronto for over ten years, will guide newcomers
on a day tour to accomplish these essential tasks and help them start their new
life here.
Groups of 30-40 newcomers, led by 2-5 experienced Torontonians, will
participate in activities including purchasing a new phone, opening a bank
account, and obtaining a Presto card.
This program assists newcomers during their first weeks in Canada by offering them a chance to spend one day with Torontonians to learn the vital things that are extremely important for newcomers, feel less stressed, and enjoy the accommodation time. Consequently, this program will help reduce newcomers’ stress and maintain their mental health by connecting them with like-minded newcomers facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of belonging to a supportive community.
